Our Story

Harvest Mission Community Church began in 1996 with a group of eight people who shared a common vision to see a church like the one they saw in the book of Acts – devoted to following Christ, sharing the gospel passionately to their community and making an impact that would spread to the ends of the earth.

They began to meet on the University of Michigan campus in Ann Arbor, studying the book of Acts and praying for God’s direction. The church officially began in the fall of 1996, and by God’s grace, more people began to come and experience life transformation through the community, teaching, prayer and worship.

Over the years, HMCC in Ann Arbor has grown not only numerically but also in diversity of life stages and ethnicities. What began as a college campus church has grown to include children, middle and high school students, graduate students, working professionals and married couples.

The Fall of 2006 marked a moment in HMCC history as we planted a church in Evanston, Illinois, on the campus of Northwestern University. God has been moving powerfully, bringing college and graduate students, as well as working professionals and married couples, not only from Evanston but from the surrounding Chicago area.

God has truly been faithful over the years in fulfilling that initial vision. We have seen biblical community being lived out, the gospel being shared, lives being saved and transformed by Christ throughout our campuses and communities. This is just a small portion of our story, but we hope you will look around this site, get connected to our community if you live near one of our sites, and experience with us the exciting story that He continues to unfold!
